Japan's Storm Emeralda Officially Revealed

Japan's Storm Emeralda Officially Revealed

Storm Emeralda Starring Mega Rayquaza ex

Following last week's teaser, Storm Emeralda starring Mega Rayquaza ex has now been officially revealed.

The set will release in Japan on July 31, 2026 as the M6 expansion.

Set Details

Storm Emeralda will feature:

  • 76 cards in the main set
  • Approximately 35 to 40 Secret Rare cards
  • Around 115 cards in total

This is similar in size to the previous Mega Evolution sets, with the exception of the first release in the series.

Legendary Summit Introduces a Split Stadium Card

One of the biggest surprises from the reveal is Legendary Summit, the Pokémon TCG's first split Stadium card.

The Stadium is made up of two separate halves that must be played together from your hand, but once in play they count as a single Stadium card.

Its effect reduces the Prize cards taken when a Colorless Pokémon is Knocked Out by an opponent's attack, introducing a brand-new card mechanic to the game.

The design is reminiscent of the LEGEND cards from the HeartGold & SoulSilver era, which also required two matching halves to complete a card.

Whether Legendary Summit will remain a one-off mechanic or expand into future sets remains to be seen.

Sealed Tournament Promotion

To celebrate the release, Japan will host sealed deck tournaments using Storm Emeralda booster packs.

Players will build decks from newly opened packs, with winners receiving a Mega Gallade ex Special Illustration Rare promo card delivered after the event.

Players can also recreate the sealed format at home with friends or family and submit their experience online. From those entries, 2,000 participants will be randomly selected to receive the same promo card.

English Release: Delta Reign

Cards from Storm Emeralda will arrive internationally in Delta Reign, the fifth English Mega Evolution-era expansion, releasing on November 6, 2026.

Unlike previous Mega Evolution sets that launched roughly two months after their Japanese counterparts, Delta Reign will arrive three months later due to the worldwide release of 30th Celebration, which shifted the English release schedule.
